Today I went with my parents to go see a movie. I officially know why America is fat.
The amount of food spent, purchased, and consumed at movie theaters is OUTRAGEOUS! I saw a man today who got a large popcorn for his wife and him. First, he did about three swirls of butter. Really?! The popcorn they make just in the oil is easily half your fat for the day...then add all that butter...holy cow. Quickly I forgot how aghast I was and took my seat for the movie. A few short minutes later they sat two seats over from us. As we waited and the lights were still on, each time I glanced over, the man was putting more salt onto his popcorn. I'm in utter amazement as I think about what he is doing to his body. I realize I can't nor can others be expected to stick to my "diet" rigidly; however, come on a little moderation. The large amount of popcorn, butter, and salt he ate I would think would increase his risk of a heart attack by 10 times more! My advice? If you have to have a snack during the movie either: 1) hide your own 100 calorie bag of popcorn, or 2) at least purchase a fat-free candy such as Sour Patch Kids!
