2/7/10 Katie's Healthy Eating Journal: Sunday

by katie 7. February 2010 22:11

Yesterday I left off with you wondering if there were any positive outcomes from my liposuction procedure.  Remember, when I did this procedure I was topping off the scale at almost 180 pounds with a little 5'3" height...thanks to Jenny Craig I am 120.  However, after the procedure I not only didn't lose weight...I CONTINUED TO GAIN IT!  Now maybe just maybe my contour lines were more smooth as opposed to jiggly cottage cheese (but, if that's the case, I definitely didn't notice, nor could tell at all).  I was eating extremely healthy because I was at home eating my Mom's super nutritious meals.  Even when I went back to school I wanted the surgery to work so much I made sure to try and make good choices.  I gained weight from not being able to workout for the first three or four months after the surgery.  I was in so much pain that I didn't want to anyway.  The whole thing is illogical: get surgery to lose weight; but no working out for almost half a year because you'll be so uncomfortable and the skin bouncing all around is not a good idea.  Stupid.  I wish I had known then what I know now.  I needed someone to teach me portion sizes and the balance of the food pyramid; not a quick fix surgery.  If you are considering this route please, please do as much research as possible to make sure this really is what you want.  Look up CREDIBLE, VALID research to see the percentage of people that it actually works for.  Maybe my journey won't be the same as yours, but it sure doesn't hurt to share mine.
